It took Jose Feliciano just ten minutes to write “Feliz Navidad,” thirteen words in English and six words in Spanish. Simplicity is genius. The song became a crossover hit in 1970. It was a hit song in both English-speaking countries, and Spanish-speaking countries. Ironically, Jose Feliciano wrote the song when he was very lonely and homesick for his home in Puerto Rico. He and his brother were living in New York at the time. It is a happy little Christmas song. . .a classic.

Information taken from “Nineteen Words,” written by Michel Schulman in The New Yorker on December 21,2020, pp.24-25. Information also gotten by googling Wikipedia, the song “Feliz Navidad.”
